LHSCC 2014 WEEKLY RUN LOG #5…from Coach Barbe
NO RACE ON TUESDAY…Coach Barbe was wrong (only about this). LHSCC will NOT be travelling to Arabia Mtn HS on Tuesday. Please check the schedule for proper dates. So, it will not be necessary to remember your uniforms on Tuesday. If you already thought there wasn’t a race on Tuesday, you were right.
OUR NEXT RACE IS SATURDAY. LHSCC will be travelling to Marist School for the “Roy Benson Double Dip” on Sept 6. This is always a well-organized, competitive, and local race so everyone is encouraged to come out and support the team. Besides, this is also our only chance to race against Marist!
Race Times are
Varsity Boys (7 runners) – 7:50am Varsity Girls (7 runners) – 8:20am
JV Boys (10 runners) – 8:55am JV Girls (10 runners) – 9:30am
Freshmen / 1st year runners – 10:05 Open (all remaining runners) 10:40
There are time limits for all races, so some runners may not qualify despite their team ranking. Rosters for each race will be announced at Thursday’s practice
THE TEAM BUS WILL LEAVE LHS (Upper Pkng Lot) at 6:30am
OUR NEXT TEAM / SPAGHETTI DINNER is at the Breeden’s on Friday. Details to follow
SPIRIT WEAR IS STILL FOR SALE, but time is running out. Hoodies, hats, fleeces, flannel pants and parent t-shirts can be order thru Coach Barbe or the Booster Club. Hurry the deadline is Sept. Sadly, every year, someone has to be told they are too late to be one of the cool kids with the spirit wear, don’t let that sad kid be you!
JOIN BOOSTER CLUB NOW! Thank you to everyone who has already paid their dues (and volunteered to support our program) These dues (and your time) are vital to our success. We are already spending money for (on) your child, sign up now and send your payment asap. (If you have questions regarding payment, please contact our Booster Club Treasurer, Ms Breeden, for help)
COACH’S TIP: DO YOUR HOMEWORK! This past weekend was a test. An assessment of how well you have started to make our training schedule part of your everyday life (see the “Everyday” list for reminders). We train together for only two hours a day, but you are responsible for the other 22 (hours). This week, did you get your rest? Chow like a champion? Hydrate hard? Did you stick to the training schedule? Warm up? Cool down? What strength training did you do? These are all things that you are responsible for that have to be done at home. Just like in school, if you want to achieve your goals…you have to do your homework!

Practice ends at approx. 4:30pm
FRIDAY MODERATE DISTANCE in the LHS neighborhood 5 – 7 miles
Team Dinner at the Breeden’s (6:30pm – 8pm)
SATURDAY DOUBLE DIP @ MARIST + recovery run (3 – 5 miles)
SUNDAY ACTIVE REST / RECOVERY DAY (NO RUNNING!)
